Depending on the generator. If it is a gasoline generator that will sit in your garage and plug into the panel when needed, it is only a few hours. If it is a whole home natural gas generator, that will be set somewhere in the yard and have natural gas and electrical run to it, it is a 3 to 5 day process. If you are pouring concrete for a base it can take longer.
Typically, a whole home generator will be plumbed directly into your houses electrical panel with a transfer switch which will automatically start the generator when there is an interruption in your electrical service.
You first need to decide how much of your home you want to be covered. Just the fridge and water heater or the whole home or somewhere in between. If it is the whole home you need to pick a few spots in your yard where you want to place the unit. Our electrician can help you with both of those as well.
Depends on what you need/want to provide electricity to in the event of a power outage. Our electrical department will help with sizing the equipment based on your needs/wants.
Each gasoline unit is different, depending on the size of the gas tank. A large gasoline generator can run 6 hours before having to re-fuel.
